Larry was a quiet, gentle, giant ginger. I remember his grit on the football field and his easy smile off the field. He was one of the big guys up front that protected me and he was a good friend. Proud to be your team mate. RIP Big guy. You will always be remembered.

I remember playing basketball on Saturday mornings at Braeside school I believe. I ran into a pick Larry set and I couldn't tell if it was a pick or a wall!!

Larry could have easily been a bully but he was as nice as could be. As Jordan Peterson said, a good man isn't a harmless man. A good man is a dangerous man who chooses not to be dangerous. That was Larry. Rest in peace good man.

I remember first meeting Larry at Edgewood junior high. We became friends and our friendship grew as we both decided to become "loopers" at Northmoor country club and then through our high school years.  Larry was a funny, kind and gentle guy except when he was on the football field at which time I was sure glad I was on his team!  He was a tough competitor a talented athlete and a good friend. And most importantly he was a wonderful human being.
It's hard to believe he's gone. A life ended too soon. Love ya, buddy.

I remember Larry Gortner.  I'm not sure if we had any classes together, but when in the hallways of Highland Park High School, he would always say Hi to me.  I think he knew my brother Donny Iovino who played football with him.  That football team was the greatest.  All those guys were respectful of one another which I think was due to their wonderful coaches. Mr. John Chickerneo and Mr. James Righeimer.  Mr. Chickerneo taught me Math and Mr. Righeimer was my Driver's Education Teacher. Both class act guys. Larry is in good hands with that team in heaven.

Larry was always a kind young man.  I haven't been in touch with him since graduation, but was sad to hear of his passing.  Blessings to his friends and family....

I remember Larry as always so kind and happy.  I think we were in a class together sometime either at Edgewood or HPHS.  Just a very sweet guy,  Rest in Peace and keep smilling.  Hugs,
